Report: Saints and DE Carl Granderson Agree to Contract Extension

The Saints keep one of their underrated defensive stars with a contract extension, per reports.

According to NFL Insider Mike Garofolo, New Orleans Saints defensive end Carl Granderson has agreed to a four-year contract extension with the team.  Granderson, 26, was playing out the last year of his contract. 

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Granderson's new four-year deal is worth $52 million, with $35.3 million in guaranteed money. 

An undrafted rookie out of Wyoming in 2019, Granderson has spent his entire career with New Orleans. He has 17 sacks and 21 tackles for loss among 108 total stops over that span which also includes four forced fumbles.

Granderson has improved every season and vastly outplayed 2018 first-round pick Marcus Davenport in 2022. Last year was his best season, finishing with 5.5 sacks, 13 QB pressures, and nine tackles for loss among 53 total stops.

Off to a tremendous start in 2023, Granderson has been one of the keys to an outstanding New Orleans defense. Through two games, he has 2.5 sacks to lead the team, along with seven pressures and a forced fumble.
