Saints Elevate Two Players For Game Vs. Titans
Ahead of each game, NFL teams are allowed to elevate two players from their practice squad to the active roster for gamedays. Saturday, the New Orleans Saints announced this week's pair.
The Saints are elevating running back Tony Jones Jr. and linebacker Ryan Connelly. Both players will be on the team's gameday roster in addition to the standard 46.
Teams are allowed to do this with each player on their practice squad a maximum of three times. After a player is elevated for the third time, the club must decide to either sign them to their active roster or release them.
Jones' elevation has been seen a mile away as the team is light at running back. Star back Alvin Kamara is suspended for the first three games of the season and it looks like rookie runner Kendre Miller will have to wait to make his debut after not participating in all three practices this week. Miller is listed as questionable despite his absences, so worth watching as the game nears.
Connelly was having a very strong training camp and preseason before missing multiple weeks with injury. The veteran linebacker is a better-than-solid special teams contributor and also provides the team additional depth on their second level against the stout run game of the Tennessee Titans.
