Saints Hiring Marcus Robertson
The Saints are hiring Marcus Robertson, according to Mike Jurecki of Arizona Football Daily. It's another familiar face that will join Dennis Allen's coaching staff. Robertson was the Cardinals defensive backs coach for several seasons.
Bob Rose looked at Robertson extensively on Tuesday, and the need is there after the team parted ways with Kris Richard and will apparently not bring back assistant Cory Robinson.
The Cardinals pass defense ranked 24th in 2022, but held a top-10 ranking against the pass in 2020 and 2021. Robertson was part of a defensive staff that oversaw the development of Pro Bowl S Budda Baker, considered one of the league's best at the position.
Allen is certainly bringing on some familiarity with his staff for next season. It didn't work out quite the way he wanted to in 2014, but perhaps he saw enough then and believes this time around in New Orleans will bring better success. As always, we'll see.
