Senior Bowl week is coming, which means the Saints are going to be one of the teams with a heavy scouting presence in Mobile. New Orleans is no stranger to drafting players from this event that has only increased in popularity with each passing year. While it hasn't always produced consistent results for the team, it does pole-vault draft hopefuls and has brought some great stories to the NFL. Here's a look back at the team's track record over the past several years.

  • 2023: Isaiah Foskey (2nd Round), Nick Saldiveri (4th Round), Jake Haener (4th Round)
  • 2022: Trevor Penning (1st Round), Alontae Taylor (2nd Round), D'Marco Jackson (6th Round)
  • 2021: Payton Turner (1st Round), Ian Book (4th Round)
  • 2020: Adam Trautman (3rd Round), Zack Baun (3rd Round)
  • 2019: Erik McCoy (2nd Round)
  • 2018: Marcus Davenport (1st Round), Tre'Quan Smith (3rd Round)
  • 2017: Alex Anzalone (3rd Round)

Going back a little further, New Orleans also picked up Sheldon Rankins (2016), Garrett Grayson (2015), Hau'oli Kikaha and Stephone Anthony (2015) from the Senior Bowl. They've also hit on some undrafted rookies from here, finding the likes of Calvin Throckmorton (2020) and Carl Granderson (2019). Last season saw them add one from Mobile in Anthony Johnson (Virginia), who was on the practice squad for a bit.

We saw plenty of theatrics during one of the practices last year when Sean Payton got traded to the Broncos. We also got to talk to Jeff Ireland and get his insight on draft prototypes and other topics while also seeing four coaches in Ronald Curry, Cory Robinson, Declan Doyle and D.J. Williams. Of the announced coaches for this year, we'll see assistant special teams coach Phil Galiano in the spotlight.

Like they say, "The Draft Starts In Mobile." Practices start on Tuesday, Jan. 30.
