Report: Saints S Marcus Maye Receives Rescheduled Hearing Date
New Orleans Saints S Marcus Maye has his pending DUI hearing rescheduled for July 25, according to ESPN Saints reporter Katherine Terrell. Maye, now 30, was involved in an incident in February of 2021 while with the New York Jets. He was charged with driving under the influence, property damage, and leaving the scene of an accident.
Maye has pleaded not guilty to the charges and has had hearings rescheduled multiple times. The July 25 court date is currently scheduled as a jury trial. Maye was also arrested last September in Metairie, LA in a road rage incident. The Jefferson Parish district attorney declined to press charges because of a lack of evidence.
A six-year NFL veteran, Maye was a second-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Florida by the New York Jets. He spent his first five years with New York before signing a three-year contract with the Saints in the 2022 offseason.
Maye appeared in ten games for New Orleans in 2022. He recorded 60 tackles, broke up two passes, and forced a fumble. His NFL career includes six interceptions, five forced fumbles, and 3.5 sacks.
If convicted, Maye could also face a suspension from the NFL. Saints RB Alvin Kamara also has a hearing on July 31 for an alleged assault in Las Vegas in February of 2022.
New Orleans is expected to open their 2023 training camp during the final week of July.
