Saints Michael Thomas Powerlifts An Insane Weight
By the amount of weight Michael Thomas was deadlifting in his workout video, the New Orleans All-Pro appears locked and loaded for the upcoming season.
MICHAEL THOMAS WORKOUT
At a recent training session, the Saints wide receiver was powerlifting an insane weight of 575 pounds. The team's website lists Thomas at 6-3, 212 pounds. However, he looks bigger, stronger, and near-ready for training camp in July.
The eight-year pro had his 2022 season abruptly ended after a toe injury in a Week-3 road clash against Carolina. Last year, the veteran wideout caught 16 receptions for 171 yards and three touchdowns. Thomas has been in and out of the New Orleans lineup since the record-breaking 2019 season. He eclipsed Marvin Harrison's 143 single-season receptions record with 149 catches and won the 2019 AP Offensive Player of the Year Award.
Thomas had limited participation with the Saints during their recent OTAs and minicamp workouts. Head coach Dennis Allen believes his receiver will be ready for training camp. By the looks of Thomas' workout video, he appears on track.
Debbie Luna of Inspire Us defines powerlifting for novices:
"Powerlifting focuses on attaining maximum strength when performing one-rep maxes on three core lifts: squats, bench press, and deadlifts."
New Orleans will have rookies and veterans reporting on July 24 for conditioning tests the following day. The 2023 Saints Training Camp officially opens on July 26, where Michael Thomas plans to rejoin his squad. However, another Saints All-Pro, running back Alvin Kamara, will be in Las Vegas standing trial for an alleged battery incident during the 2022 Pro Bowl weekend.
