Saints Not Making Any Noticeable Changes Following Mini-Bye

The Saints are not expected to make any noticeable changes coming out of their mini-bye, according to head coach Dennis Allen.
In this story:

Dennis Allen was asked about any noticeable coaching or personnel changes that we might see this week during his Monday afternoon press conference, which was met with a couple of no's.

"If we decide to make some changes, we’ll let you know," Allen said.

The Saints are going to handle everything within the organization to try to put this thing back on the right track, so it sounds like this is the group that will either get it done or not.

"We had a lot of good conversations with a lot of different people. Things that we need to do better. Obviously, the specifics things of what we have to do kind of remain in-house. We know we have to play better, so we will."

Allen added, “You get in the middle of the season and there’s generally not a lot of people from outside your building that are coming in that are going to make significant changes. We’ve got our guys and we’re going to be hard at work trying to fix some issues.”

The reset was for everyone, both players and coaches. A lot of players got out of town to spend time with friends and family, while coaches also did the same. They spent the past few days spending time on the team and will get into Indianapolis starting on Tuesday.

"When you have a few extra days, it gives you a little bit more opportunity to kind of dive into some of the things. I will say from an offensive perspective, situational football I think is one thing that has to be better."

Allen reiterated that the offense has been able to move the ball at times, but stalling out in the red zone or being unable to convert third downs are the issue and something the team has taken a look at and is figuring out some things that they can do better in those areas. Being on the same page is also a top priority and seeing the corrections moving forward.

Allen was asked about the growing pains the offense is experiencing right now, and he responded with, "I think it's time for those to be done with."

If the steps the Saints are taking to fix things aren't met, Allen simply responded with, "We'll cross that bridge when we get to it."

New Orleans travels up to the Indianapolis to take on Gardner Minshew and the Colts on Sunday for a noon kickoff. We'll see how the team responds very soon.
