Saints Re-Sign WR Keith Kirkwood
The New Orleans Saints announced on Friday that they have re-signed WR Keith Kirkwood to a one-year contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the announcement was made by Saints Executive VP and General Manager Mickey Loomis.
Kirkwood, 28, was signed as an undrafted rookie by New Orleans in 2018. He caught 15 passes for 217 yards and three touchdowns in nine games for the Saints as a rookie, including playoffs.
After appearing in just one contest for New Orleans in 2019, Kirkwood signed with the Carolina Panthers as a free agent. He'd play in four games for the Panthers over two years, catching four passes for 30 yards.
Kirkwood re-signed with New Orleans in 2022. He'd see action in five games, hauling in two receptions for 18 yards. Kirkwood has 21 receptions for 265 yards and three touchdowns over a five-year career with 19 game appearances counting playoffs.
A 6'3" and 210-Lb. possession receiver, Kirkwood is a physical player who also contributes on special teams. He'll compete for a spot on a New Orleans receiving corps that saw the emergence of rookie wideouts Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed.
Outside of those two players, the Saints didn't get much from their receiving corps. They ranked 16th passing yardage, but got minimal production from veteran receivers Marquez Callaway and Tre'Quan Smith.
