Saints Releasing Veteran Cornerback
Final cuts are tough on everyone, and there's surely going to be a ton of player movement. In a rather surprising move, the Saints are releasing veteran cornerback Bradley Roby, as first reported by NFL Insider Jordan Schultz.
Roby went on his personal social media account, first saying, "Cutting costs at all cost might just cost you in the end." That was followed up by a goodbye to New Orleans.
"Good luck to my brothers and the Saints fans ya'll deserve to be winners!"
Roby was the team's slot guy, also starting on the outside when injuries piled up. Everyone locally picked him to be on their final 53-man roster without question, but now he's out. Second-year cornerback Alontae Taylor and veteran Ugo Amadi will be two that will most assuredly be looked at for the spot.
Releasing Roby does give him a chance to immediately latch on to another team, but not trying to get compensation for him is a little bit of a head scratcher. We'll see how things play out, as the door isn't completely closed on him. Teams have to be at 53 by Tuesday afternoon.
