Saints Assistant Ronald Curry Completes Interview with Buccaneers
New Orleans Saints passing game coordinator Ronald Curry has completed an interview with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for their vacant offensive coordinator position, according to reports.
Curry, 43, has been an offensive assistant with New Orleans since 2016. He was promoted to Wide Receiver Coach in 2018 and elevated to QB Coach and Passing Game coordinator in 2021. Curry was a quarterback and wideout for North Carolina and a seventh-round pick in the 2002 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders, where he was a wideout for seven seasons.
New Orleans ranked 16th in passing production in 2022. Curry, along with receiver coach Kodi Burns, are credited for the development of rookie wideouts Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed.
Curry will serve as the Offensive Coordinator for the National Team at the Senior Bowl, which will be played on February 4.
Tampa Bay ranked 15th in total offense and 25th in points scored in 2022. After the season, they fired offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich, who had been with the team for four seasons. Buccaneers QB Tom Brady, who was a pending free agent, also announced his retirement on Wednesday.
In addition to Curry, the Buccaneers have also interviewed Georgia OC Todd Monken, Giants QB coach Shea Tierney, Vikings WR coach Keenan McCardell, Bengals QB coach Dan Pitcher, former Broncos QB coach Klint Kubiak, and Jaguars passing game coordinator Jim Bob Cooter for the position.
Earlier this offseason, the Saints already lost co-defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen to the Atlanta Falcons for the same position. Their other defensive coordinator, Kris Richard, has also interviewed with other teams for their defensive coordinator spot.
