Saints Roster Moves Ahead of Week 6 at Texans

Saints announce multiple roster moves in advance of their Week 6 game at Houston.
In this story:

The New Orleans Saints have made the following roster moves in advance of Sunday's game at the Houston Texans.

• placed FB Adam Prentice on injured reserve

• signed RB Jordan Mims to the active roster from the practice squad

• elevated S Daniel Sorensen from the practice squad to the active roster

• elevated TE J.P. Holtz from the practice squad to the active roster

Mims is expected to be the third back behind Alvin Kamara and Kendre Miller against the Texans. He was signed by the Saints earlier this season, but has yet to be activated for a game. An undrafted rookie from Fresno State, Mims was with the Buffalo Bills during preseason.

Holtz was a standard elevation and can also play fullback, so will take Prentice's place as the blocking back. He was active in six games for the Saints in 2022 and has played for the Chicago Bears and Washington Redskins since 2019. He'll also see snaps at tight end in short yardage situations behind Foster Moreau and Jimmy Graham with Juwan Johnson (calf) ruled out against the Texans.

Sorensen was another standard elevation. A ten-year veteran, Sorensen had two interceptions and 25 tackles in his first year with New Orleans in 2022. With J.T. Gray (hamstring) ruled out for Sunday, Sorensen will play special teams and back up Tyrann Mathieu, Marcus Maye, and Jordan Howden at safety.

Maye also returns to the lineup after missing the last three games because of suspension. He'll rejoin Mathieu in the starting lineup, with Howden coming in against multiple receiver sets.
