Saints Announce 5 Roster Moves Ahead of Sunday's Game at Packers
The New Orleans Saints have announced the following moves ahead of Sunday's game at the Green Bay Packers.
1. RB Jamaal Williams (hamstring) placed on injured reserve
2. CB Paulson Adebo (hamstring) downgraded to OUT against Packers
3. TE Foster Moreau (ankle) downgraded to OUT against Packers
4. S Johnathan Abram elevated from practice squad to active roster
5. CB Cameron Dantzler elevated from practice squad to active roster
Williams to injured reserve doesn't come as a huge surprise. After injuring his hamstring in Monday night's win at Carolina, coach Dennis Allen indicated that Williams could miss several weeks. He'll now be out a minimum of four weeks with the injured reserve designation.
The Saints will also be without suspended RB Alvin Kamara against the Packers. It's the last of his three-game suspension. New Orleans will roll with Tony Jones Jr. and rookie Kendre Miller in the backfield against Green Bay. Miller will be seeing his first regular season action after missing the first two games with a hamstring injury of his own.
Abram and Dantzler are both standard practice squad elevations. A former first-round choice of the Oakland Raiders in 2019, Abram spent this preseason with the Saints. Dantzler, a 2020 third-round pick by the Minnesota Vikings, was just signed by New Orleans earlier this week.
Both moves make sense. Saints S Marcus Maye will be serving the first of his three-game league suspension on Sunday. Adebo injured his hamstring during practice late in the week and will be unavailable.
Both Adebo and Moreau were downgraded to out this afternoon after being listed as questionable on Friday's injury report. Jimmy Graham is likely to get more reps at tight end behind starter Juwan Johnson.
Alontae Taylor may move back to outside corner opposite Marshon Lattimore. Taylor's slot duties will likely be assumed by a combination of Tyrann Mathieu, Lonnie Johnson, Jordan Howden, and Isaac Yiadom. Howden will also be stepping in for Maye as the starting safety alongside Mathieu.
