Saints Give Calvin Throckmorton a One-Year Contract Extension
Offensive guard Calvin Throckmorton has signed a one-year contract extension with the Saints, according to a Wednesday morning report by NewOrleans.Football's Nick Underhill. It's worth $940,000.
The undrafted lineman out of Oregon was an exclusive rights free agent (ERFA) going into the offseason. ERFA's are players that are not under contract, but have not reached three years of experience. New Orleans had the choice to make an offer at the three-year veteran minimum salary, which Throckmorton had a 'take it or leave it' option. He would not have been able to negotiate with another team unless the Saints made an offer.
Throckmorton has appeared in 31 games for the Saints over the past two seasons, starting in 20 of them. In 2022, he had 6 starts. He's certainly an important piece of depth for the offensive line, and this was a smart move for New Orleans.
