Saints Reportedly Targeting West Coast For New Training Camp Home

Irvine, California has emerged as the top destination for Saints training camp in 2024.
In this story:

The Saints look like they're going to have a new home for training camp this summer. According to NOLA.com's Jeff Duncan, the team has zeroed in on moving their operations to the West Coast in Irvine, California.

The site, according to Duncan, is going to be at the University of California-Irvine, where the Rams have held camp for the past few years. Nothing has been finalized yet, however.

Moving camp has been something Dennis Allen hinted at last season and there was plenty of buzz around the facility of a potential move with multiple sites being thrown out last summer. There's been renovation projects going on that's been attributed to the team moving. The Saints practice facility in Metairie has been the team's home for camp since 2017.

Saints Announce New Offensive Coordinator

We don't exactly know when the team will release their training camp schedule. Last year came on July 12, two weeks before the start of camp, and was announced with seven practices open to fans. Inclement weather, especially heat, played into some cancellations of the sessions.

Logistics will certainly play a part of this for the Saints, as they'll likely coordinate any joint practices with teams on the West Coast, as well as any of their road preseason games. That would at least open the door for them to return home for their preseason finale and potentially give the fans at least a couple of practices to see the team. 2024 may not be the only year the team does this, but we'll see.
