Saints-Texans Score Predictions | Week 6
After an impressive shutout performance against the New England Patriots last week, the New Orleans Saints are looking to prove the dominant showing is more than just a flash in the pan. As they head to Houston to take on the Texans Sunday afternoon, the Saints have a big test ahead of them. There are far from the Texans of yesteryear led by rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud who is on a tear to start off his career.
Linebacker Demario Davis, defensive end Cameron Jordan and safety Tyrann Mathieu are among the many on the Saints' defense that looks to limit the rookie passer. Meanwhile quarterback Derek Carr, wideouts Chris Olave and Michael Thomas and more want to prove the offense can be the high-octane unit everyone expected. Will this week be a let down? Or will the team prove they are who they want to be? Here is what the Saints News Network team is expecting.

New Orleans faces a big defensive test. I believe the Saints can pressure Stroud, who has yet to throw an interception, into mistakes. It will not be easy against a Texans offensive line that has pass protected very well in recent weeks. Offensively, the Saints have flexed some muscle with their rushing attack but needs to show some life in the passing game.
New Orleans has the personnel to put points on the board against an inexperienced Houston defense if play-calling and execution improve.
Prediction: Saints 27, Texans 17

New Orleans faces rookie sensation Stroud and a young, confident team hoping to upset the Saints at NRG Stadium in Houston. Stroud has yet to toss an interception since entering the NFL. The Saints defense is tied for No. 2 in the league with 7 interceptions, ranks No.3 by limiting quarterbacks to 5 touchdowns thrown, and ranks No. 5 in passing yards allowed.
The Saints offense must be patient, consistent, and gritty against a stingy DeMeco Ryans defense that has surrendered only three passing touchdowns in 2023. The contest between the Gulf Coast foes will be a defensive battle. Carr and the offense should take advantage of any Texans' turnovers, convert at least 60% of their third downs, and establish a strong running game.
Prediction: Saints 24, Texans 20

The Texans a very interesting team entering Sunday’s game against the Saints. Stroud has been playing extremely well, certainly not like a rookie, and Ryans is making a very positive impact in Houston.
Despite that, New Orleans is a team that showed everyone what they are capable of last week against the Patriots when they can focus and play a complete game. The challenge is to replicate success and prove that wasn’t a fluke, and I will buy that from Allen and company. It will not be nearly as easy, but they will win.
Prediction: Saints 28, Texans 20

For me, the biggest factors of this game for the Saints will come down to generating pressure and locking down the middle of the field on defense, and taking advantage of the aggression of a fast-flying defensive unit on offense. Expect to see a lot of double moves on the outside, screens and play action by both of these teams in order to try to get the opposing defenses off-balance.
The separating factor in this game may come down to which team takes advantage of the opportunities they can generate. Almost making a play will not win this game. With the way the Saints' defense has been playing this season, it stands to reason that they will be the ones to capitalize and therefore life their team to a close victory in Houston.
