Saints-Titans Announcers for Week 1 Revealed
CBS Sports revealed who their television announcers will be for the first three weeks of the NFL season on Monday. The New Orleans Saints will appear on CBS just once during those first three weeks.
New Orleans will host the Tennessee Titans in Week 1 at noon Central Time on Sunday, September 10. The CBS announcing team for the game will be Chris Lewis and Jason McCourty in the booth, with Ross Tucker and Amanda Guerra as sideline reporters. Both Lewis and McCourty are making their debuts with the network.
Lewis will do the play-by-play. He has a background as both a football and college basketball announcer, but will be making his debut as an NFL play-by-play person. McCourty will be the color analyst and will be making his announcing debut.
Jason McCourty was an NFL cornerback for 13 years before retiring at the end of the 2021 season. His first eight seasons were spent with the Tennessee Titans. He also spent three years with the New England Patriots and was a member of their Super Bowl LIII championship team. McCourty had 18 career interceptions and forced or recovered 14 fumbles during his career. He never faced the Saints as a player.
Typically, Fox Sports covers NFC games on Sundays while CBS does coverage for AFC matchups. During interconference contests, CBS does the coverage if a game is held in the NFC team’s venue, while Fox takes the games if held in the AFC stadium.
This will be 17th meeting between the New Orleans Saints and the Titans/Houston Oilers franchise. The Saints are just 6-9-1 against the Titans/Oilers. They are only 2-6 against them at home and have lost their last four meetings against them in the Superdome.
New Orleans has not played Tennessee at home since the 2015 season, a 34-28 overtime loss. The Saints and Titans last played in 2021, resulting in a 23-21 Tennessee victory. New Orleans last beat Tennessee in 2019, a 38-28 win on the road.
The last time the Saints beat this franchise at home was during the 1993 season opener. New Orleans beat the then-Houston Oilers, 33-21. It's the only time these teams have met each other to open the regular season.
