The New Orleans Saints have released their first unofficial depth chart for Week 1 of the preseason, ahead of Sunday afternoon's game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The unofficial depth chart had a few surprises, but not to confused with over-reactions:
- Carl Granderson at starting right defensive end over former first-round pick Payton Turner and 2023 second-round selection Isaiah Foskey.
- The left cornerback position battle between Paulson Adebo and Alontae Taylor will be interesting to watch during preseason game action.
- Juwan Johnson or Taysom Hill at starting tight end.
- Andrus Peat or James Hurst at starting left guard.
- S Jordan Howden has been making plays in camp, but listed 4th on the depth chart behind J.T. Gray.
- Cesar Ruiz keeps a stronghold on the right guard position over Calvin Throckmorton and the undrafted HBCU star Mark Evans II.
- Wide receiver Shaq Davis is not listed.
- Linebackers D'Marco Jackson and Nephi Sewell listed as second-string backups.
- Tight end Lucas Krull 5th on the depth chart is somewhat a surprise.
