Eagles Sign Former Saints Practice Squad Receiver to Reserve/Future Deal

Shaq Davis is headed to the Eagles after Philly signed him to a reserve/future deal on Thursday.
In this story:

The Saints are going to have their fair share of work cut out for them in the offseason as they look to build a contender for the new season. Part of that work includes reserve/future contracts to begin shaping out their 90-man roster. Their initial round of deals did not include wide receiver Shaq Davis, and now he's headed to Philadelphia to join the Eagles according to Thursday's NFL Wire.

Davis went undrafted from HBCU's South Carolina State and became a fan favorite during the preseason. While he did not make the final roster, he did hang around on the practice squad last season. He got placed on injured reserve from an undisclosed injury on Oct. 9 and returned to the team on Dec. 7. The team was very high on him, so it's unclear why they did not keep him.

End of Season Presser Takeaways From Saints GM Mickey Loomis

New Orleans has Chris Olave and A.T. Perry under contract for next season, as well as Michael Thomas technically. There's void years attached to his deal and he may be on his way out. Rashid Shaheed is an exclusive rights free agent and will be back, and that's really it for the receiver spot. Kodi Burns was dismissed as wide receivers coach, so it appears a lot of things will look different for the Saints in 2024.
