The Saints are scheduled to make two picks on Day 2 of the NFL Draft. Currently, New Orleans has picks No. 40 and No. 71. Whether they make them or not remains to be seen, as they could be active on the trade front Friday. Before things get started, let's re-visit the team's draft history in the Rounds 2-3 since 2017.

Saints' Second-Round Picks Since 2017

  • 2022 (49th): Alontae Taylor, CB, Tennessee
  • 2021 (60th): Pete Werner, LB, Ohio State
  • 2019 (48th): Erik McCoy, C, TAMU
  • 2017 (42nd): Marcus Williams, S, Utah

The Saints have found some real gems in the Round 2, and we can't forget about 2016 when they drafted Michael Thomas (47th) and Vonn Bell (61st). There was a period between 2010-2015 where the picks weren't so good, and New Orleans only made three selections in that span.

Saints' Third-Round Picks Since 2017

  • 2021 (76th): Paulson Adebo, CB, Stanford
  • 2020 (74th): Zack Baun, LB, Wisconsin | 105th: Adam Trautman, TE, Dayton
  • 2018 (91st): Tre'Quan Smith, WR, UCF
  • 2017 (67th): Alvin Kamara, RB, Tennessee | 76th: Alex Anzalone, LB, Florida | 103rd: Trey Hendrickson, DE, Florida-Atlantic

Jimmy Graham (2010), Akiem Hicks (2012), and Terron Armstead (2013) also deserve some love here. New Orleans has been able to find some good prospects in this round, but 2017 will be the gold standard. This would be a great time for the Saints to be able to hit again.
