Well, it was unlikely the New Orleans Saints' bad injury luck was going to just going to vanish completely in 2023. But this is a blow that hurts from multiple angles. Less than a week after signing with the team, Pro Bowl guard Trai Turner will now miss the 2023 season with a torn quadriceps injury, per ESPN"s Adam Schefter.

The injury took place early in the team's third day of training camp. Turner went down during individual drills and was carted off the field as first reported by Brooke Kirchhofer of WWL-TV and NewOrleans.Football

The injury wipes out one of the more exciting late-offseason additions by the team who signed Turner with the hopes of getting his experience mixed in with the Saints' offensive line depth.

Head coach Dennis Allen was forthright about the injury following the day's practice. He highlighted that the guard had experienced an injury, left the field and would be evaluated for further information. Unfortunately, that further information did not match the best-case scenario. New Orleans has dealt with an onslaught of injuries over the last two seasons and it looks like any hope of that completely fading away in 2023 will have been premature.

But hopefully the team still sees a dip in its recent bad injury luck moving forward. If the Saints decide to bring in another offensive linemen to replace Turner for camp, they did hold a visit with veteran guard Tommy Kraemer earlier in the week. Kraemer started three games for the Detroit Lions, two at right guard and one on the left side. If they liked what they saw from him, he could be on the next flight to New Orleans.
