As the Seattle Seahawks and the other 31 teams prepare for the upcoming NFL Draft, their efforts will be on priortizing roster needs and comparing to the available players in the pool.

The Seahawks own seven picks over the seven rounds, but have no second- or fifth-round selections. Seattle instead has a first-rounder, a third-rounder, two fourth-rounders, two sixth-rounders and a seventh-round pick.

New head coach Mike Macdonald takes over a team that missed out on the playoffs last season witih a 9-8 record, but just barely. Seattle was the No. 8 seed, or the first team out.

Expectations are that Macdonald and general manager John Schneider will get the team back into the postseason in 2024, and it all starts with the draft.

But what positions should be prioritized?

First should be the interior offensive line. Right now, it's a highly inexperienced line with left guard Tremayne Anchrum Jr. (one career start), either Nick Harris (four starts) or Olu Oluwatimi (one start) at center and right guard Anthony Bradford (10 starts). In addition to the inexperience, offensive line coach Scott Huff is in his first season coaching the position at the NFL level.

Seattle should also priortize the linebacker position. The Seahawks brought in Tyrel Dodson and Jerome Baker in free agency, but they're both on one-year deals and not long-term solutions. Seattle should look at drafting an interior linebacker to add depth with the hopes he's a starter in the years to come.

Finally, the safety room also needs help. Gone are Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs, while in are K'Von Wallace and Rayshawn Jenkins. Those are not necessarily upgrades unless to take into account Adams' injuries in recent seasons. The room needs another bonafide starter, and that might happen in the draft.
