Seattle Seahawks Hire Salary Cap Guru To Front Office
The Seattle Seahawks made a big addition to their front office on Wednesday, hiring Joey Laine as vice president of football administration.
Laine spent the 2023 season with the Green Bay Packers as a salary cap analyst. Before that, he worked as the Chicago Bears' director of football administration from 2015-2021, where he was "Chicago's chief contract negotiator while also overseeing the overall health of the team's salary cap and strategic planning, and while ensuring CBA compliance."
A University of New Orleans graduate who got his MBA at Tulane University, Laine got his start in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints in 2005. He spent 10 years with the Saints, including six as the team's salary cap analyst.
Laine replaces Matt Thomas, who recently left Seattle after 11 years with the team. Rest assured, he'll be working very closely with general manager John Schneider at all times.
