Panthers QB Bryce Young Misses Practice; OUT vs. Seahawks?
The Seattle Seahawks might not have to face the No. 1 overall pick in Week 3 based on Wednesday's developments.
Carolina Panthers rookie quarterback Bryce Young was listed as a projected DNP during Wednesday's walk-through after popping up on the injury report with an ankle issue. The Panthers (0-2) will visit Seattle (1-1) on Sunday at Lumen Field.
"We'll see how he is tomorrow, but that's the only update I have for you right now," Panthers coach Frank Reich said.
Based on Reich's comments, there appears to be some notable doubt regarding Young's availability against the Seahawks.
"Don't know the answer to that right now," Reich said when asked about Young's chances of playing.
If Young is unable to play, veteran Andy Dalton would presumably get the start. The Panthers signed Jake Luton to the practice squad on Wednesday. He's played in three career games, all with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Carolina fell 20-17 to the New Orleans Saints on Monday night. Young finished the game 22 of 33 passing for 153 yards and one touchdown. He added two carries for 34 yards.
There was never any obvious indication that he had suffered an injury during the contest, but that appears to be where he picked up the ankle issue. Reich said he "doesn't know the exact play" the injury occurred.
Seattle will now look to improve its record to 2-1 with a win over a Carolina team that is still trying to find its footing. Sunday's game kicks off from Lumen Field at 1:05 p.m. PT.
