Russell Wilson is ‘A Sack of Potatoes!’? Is Seahawks Ex QB Criticism Unfair?

Russell Wilson is ‘a mixed bag’ to Marshawn Lynch but another sort of ‘bag’ to Seahawks star Tariq Woolen. ... and at some point, it feels like we're piling on.
In this story:

The trashing of Russell Wilson from members of the Seattle Seahawks family and beyond continues … and at some point, it feels like maybe we're all piling on the beleaguered QB.

Seahawks cornerback Tariq Woolen is not impressed with Wilson’s physique.

There are leaks in Seattle about him wanting to get his bosses fired and there is a firestorm in Denver about him demanding treatment that separates him from Broncos teammates.

Seahawks ex Marshawn Lynch is trying to compliment his old Super Bowl teammate by noting. Mmmmmm.””

Hey, that’s not as brutal as Woolen saying that Wilson’s physique is reminiscent of “a sack of potatoes.”

And at some point, if we're not careful, Wilson - who did some brilliant things in Seattle before engineering his way to the Broncos in last offseason's blockbuster trade - is going to turn into a martyr.

Woolen’s roast of the current Broncos quarterback and former Seahawks star came during an appearance on the 2 Up 2 Down Podcast this week.

"He looks in shape on TV, but you see him in person, and it's weird. He's like a sack of potatoes,'' Woolen said.

In a way, Woolen is semi-complimenting Wilson, as he added, "He's athletic, and he's a good player, but literally, when I seen him, I'm like 'Damn, I didn't know he was built like that' and he was short."

Meanwhile, Lynch noted, “He’s good with me as a football player. Just knowing what he’s going to do and the way that he’s going to prepare, I’d pick him on my team; yeah, I got Russ.''

But then Lynch felt it necessary to add: "Alright, he’s a little different, ya’ll, so don’t trip, but he can throw that (expletive), and his little ass can run, too.”

All of this is part of the ongoing Russ Dogpile after his awful season in Denver, with the latest major news story coming in the form of a report that has Wilson urging Seattle management to fire coach Pete Carroll and GM John Schneider.

Wilson has issued a denial.

“I love Pete and he was a father figure to me and John believed in me and drafted me as well,” Wilson said. “I never wanted them fired. All any of us wanted was to win. l’ll always have respect for them and love for Seattle.”
