'I Want To Play!' Injured Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith Pushing for Return vs. Philadelphia Eagles

The name of quarterback Geno Smith still lingers on the Seattle Seahawks injury list - a status he hopes changes by the time "Monday Night Football'' at Lumen Field rolls around.

“We’ll see,” Smith said of the prospects of returning to the lineup in time to face the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles. “We’ll see.”

Smith is practicing again as he's fighting through the groin injury that caused him to miss last week's 28-16 loss at San Francisco, part of a four-game skid for the playoff-hopeful Seahawks.

Drew Lock played in that game, and proved to be functional at times, as he completed 22 of 31 passes for 269 yards with two touchdowns - but also with two interceptions.

But this week? The Seahawks, as much as possible, need all hands on deck. The Eagles are 10-3 and while they've lost two straight, they are still playing for the No. 1 seed in the NFC Playoffs.

The 6-7 Seahawks, meanwhile, are and in danger of getting usurped by a host of hopeful contenders.

Can Geno Smith keep that from happening?

“I’m always going to push to play,” Smith said. “I’m getting better every single day,” he said. “Been working around the clock just to try and get my body as healthy as possible to go out there and being able to play.”

“I want to play every single game, every snap, be out there for every practice.”
