'It Sucks!' Seahawks Quandre Diggs on ESPN Rank 'Disrespect'

“It sucks to not be top-10 on those lists because you work your tail off to be recognized as that.” - Seahawks star Quandre Diggs.
In this story:

The Seattle Seahawks are unbending in their belief that Quandre Diggs is an elite player at his position. Diggs feels the same way and admits “it sucks” when the “experts” don’t see it Seattle’s way.

“It sucks to not be top 10 on those lists because you work your tail off to be recognized as that,” Diggs said, reflecting on an ESPN Top-10 positional survey. “So for me, I kind of took that as disrespect. But at the end of the day, it is what it is.”

ESPN’s surveys purports to gather information from “league coaches, scouts, executives and players.” There is nevertheless nothing “official” about the list. And yet Diggs concedes that it is something that Seahawks players pay attention to.

“You’re (darn) right I do,” the Pro Bowl safety told Seattle Sports’ Brock and Salk this week on the eve of training camp. “I pay attention to it all. … I’m so invested into the game, bro, that yes, I pay attention to everything.”

The only Seahawks player to crack one of a top-10 list of ESPN? DK Metcalf, who came in at No. 8 among all NFL receivers.

Diggs has made the Pro Bowl each of the last three seasons. He has at least three interceptions in each of the last six seasons, He and the Seahawks must be doing something right … right?

Said Diggs: “All those guys on that list deserve to be on that list, and I have no hate in my heart towards them. I just want my game respected. That’s it. …

“But at the end of the day, we’re a playoff team and we just added more talent this offseason. … It’s not just about one person or two people. It’s about a whole team and that’s the way we just gonna look at it.”
