Fans of the Seattle Seahawks may recognize one of the 18 new contestants on this season of the CBS show "Survivor," which premiered its 44th installment on Wednesday night.

Brandon Cottom, 30, played with the Seahawks from 2015-17 as a fullback, but never played in a regular season game. Now, he's hoping to make a name for himself in a different type of game.

In the show, players have to outwit, outplay and outlast through a series of challenges while living on an island and avoid being voted off by their competitors, while the last one standing wins $1 million and the title of Sole Survivor.

Cottom is not the first "Survivor" cast member to go from the gridiron to the jungle. Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Gary Hogeboom competed on the show in 2005. Hall of Fame head coach Jimmy Johnson participated in 2010. Offensive tackle Steve Wright and wide receiver Grant Mattos were seen on the subsequent season in 2011, while cornerback Alan Ball played in 2017. Cowboys linebacker Danny McCray was the last NFL player to partake, appearing on the program in 2021.

Cottom can be seen on "Survivor" on Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. or on demand at Paramount+.
