Pete Carroll Reveals Seattle Seahawks 'Big Deal' Improvement After Win vs. Washington Commanders
The Seattle Seahawks have been in good form recently, and while the team is far from the finished product, they have been picking up wins. At this stage of the season, that's all any team can ask for.
Sitting at 6-3 and tied for first place in the NFC West, Seattle can feel good about where it currently sits.
For head coach Pete Carroll, one of the most important things to come out of their 29-26 win over the Washington Commanders in Week 10 was that the team is now playing how they want to.
"There’s a lot of good things that happened [vs. Washington] and there’s a lot of stuff to fix and correct," Carroll said. "We feel like we’re on it and pleased that we made it out pretty healthy and looking forward to getting going this week. There was a lot of stuff that I really liked in that game.
"I like that we got back to playing 60 minutes of football. It was very similar and familiar to the other games that we have been playing that have been in the same fashion. To me, that’s a big deal. We’ve got a way that we want to play football, and that will take us all the way through the finish. I really like that, and it gives us a chance to win in every game.”
Against Washington, the Seahawks had to grit their teeth and fight their way through some adversity after penalties and third down conversions again halted the offense on promising drives.
But when push came to shove, with Geno Smith and the offense needing a field goal to win, everything clicked for Seattle, and Jason Myers would drill home the game-winning field goal.
For Carroll, the offense had its problems throughout the game, but as the match went on, things became a lot cleaner.
“We had enough issues with penalties early on and then the third down conversions, that’s enough to screw up any offensive production," Carroll said. "We overcame some of that stuff, we still had four long drives and four good solid drives. The execution at the end was just as clean as you could hope for. The timing of the throw and the catch, the protection was there, the communication from the calls coming. Everything was right on it. We just got cleaner and sharper as the game went on. They certainly played their way into a terrific finish in the game."
The Seahawks now have a tough schedule as the Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers (twice), Dallas Cowboys, and the Philadelphia Eagles round out a brutal five-game stretch.

Seattle can either solidify its position in the NFC over that period, or it can be dragged back into the chasing pack.
But with the Seahawks playing the type of football that Carroll wants, those games should hold no fear. If they can manage a couple of wins in that time, then the Seahawks will be positioning themselves nicely for a deep playoff run.
