Seahawks WATCH: Jaxon Smith-Njigba Puts Seattle in Front vs. Steelers
Seattle Seahawks rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba has done it again.
Though it wasn't a game-winning touchdown (this time), Smith-Njigba made a crucial play while Seattle was facing a potential game-altering 3rd and 11 in the red zone in the first half of Sunday's meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers at Lumen Field.
Trailing 10-7, the Seahawks were looking to capitalize as halftime drew closer. And thanks to a toe-tap 12-yard touchdown catch from the rookie, Seattle jumped in front at 14-10.
Take a look:
Smith-Njigba caught the game-winning touchdown in Week 15's 20-17 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. It marked his second go-ahead score of the season and helped catapult the Seahawks into a favorable position down the stretch of this playoff push.
Headed into Sunday, JSN had posted 59 catches for 602 yards and three touchdowns for the season.
Jamal Adams' Future: Beginning of the End?
After his thrilling touchdown against Philly, Smith-Njigba received some high praise from coach Pete Carroll.
"I'm telling you, he was so chilled," Carroll said. "He just made the catch of his NFL career. He was just as calm and poised. He's a great competitor. I'm serious about when what I'm saying here. This guy, it was not too big a deal. It was like no big deal, of course I made that catch. He's been doing that his whole life. It's that kind of confidence and savvy that allows a guy to separate from other players. He's got that stuff in him. I was incredibly impressed with that. I caught a couple glimpses of him in between all the craziness and all that stuff. He was just on top of it. Really impressive."
