Which Teams Could Engage in Bidding War For Seahawks 16th Overall Pick?

Hoping to recoup at least one pick on day two of the 2024 NFL Draft, recent moves across the league have increased odds that the Seattle Seahawks will have ample offers for the 16th overall pick later this month.

No stranger to making draft weekend trades, general manager John Schneider and the Seattle Seahawks may have one of the most coveted first-round picks in the 2024 NFL Draft for teams looking to move up, which could lead to a strong return including a second-round pick.

Every draft offers unique strengths and weaknesses in terms of positional groups and looking towards the draft in three weeks, several teams behind Seattle in the opening round desperately could use help at tackle and/or receiver, which happen to be two of the deepest and most talented positions in this year's class. Among the teams with big shoes to fill at tackle, Dallas and Green Bay could both be interested in sliding up to No. 16, while Buffalo and Kansas City have major question marks at receiver, especially after the Bills traded away Stefon Diggs earlier this month.

With each of those teams at least eight spots behind the Seahawks in the pecking order, moving up may require throwing in a second-round pick and potentially additional compensation depending on how many teams reach out to Schneider, giving the renowned executive plenty of incentive to trade down. If a quarterback such as J.J. McCarthy or Michael Penix Jr. falls to their spot, the price tag could go up even more.

On a new episode of Locked On Seahawks, hosts Corbin Smith and Nick Lee examine why the possibility of Seattle landing a big haul on a trade down looks to be more probable drawing closer to the festivities in Detroit and share proposals for six teams that would make a lot of sense to slide up to No. 16 overall, including Green Bay and Detroit in the NFC North.

Smith and Lee also dish out their selections for the winner of the first-ever Seahawks alumni March Madness tournament pitting several star-studded squads such as top-seeded Texas and underdog No. 4 seed North Carolina.
