Seattle Seahawks OT Abraham Lucas Not Yet Ready To Return

Seattle Seahawks offensive tackle Abraham Lucas has been out since suffering a knee injury in the season-opening loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

The Seattle Seahawks have been rolling with a patchwork offensive line for most of the season, and unfortunately, they'll have to wait a bit longer to get healthy.

According to Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, starting right tackle Abraham Lucas, who has been out since Week 1 with a knee injury, is not likely to return this week as the Seahawks prepare to host the Arizona Cardinals.

“No, I don’t think that’s gonna happen,” Carroll said Monday, per The Athletic.

It's never good news when a starting offensive tackle can't play, but what's even worse is the fact that Lucas isn't the only lineman dealing with injury. Left guard Damien Lewis also missed Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals, while Jake Curhan, Lucas' replacement at right tackle, is listed as questionable for the next contest. Left tackle Charles Cross, the Seahawks' first-round pick last year, has also missed time with an injury of his own.

Seattle had fared well with its battered offensive line, but the injuries caught up to the team on Sunday. According to ESPN, the Seahawks allowed three sacks and five quarterback hits in their loss to the Bengals, easily their worst pass-blocking performance of the season. To make matters worse, most of those came against Curhan as he struggled to replace Lucas.

Run-blocking wasn't much better, as the Seahawks averaged just 3.5 yards per carry on Sunday.

Carroll is famously optimistic with injuries, so it could be longer than a week until Lucas returns. Hopefully, though, his return comes sooner rather than later.
