Seahawks' Dee Eskridge Agency Reveals Reason for Suspension
The NFL announced Friday that Seattle Seahawks receiver Dee Eskridge has been suspended for the first six games of the regular season for the violating the league's personal conduct policy. The news was sudden and left Seahawks fans with more questions than answers.
But Eskridge's agency released a statement shortly after the news broke, which helped shed some light on what the receiver did to receive the punishment.
Here's the statement, per The Athletic:
“In early February 2023, Dwayne was involved in an unfortunate incident with his child’s mother, which resulted in his arrest and the filing of misdemeanor charges,” the statement detailed. “Dwayne quickly took responsibility for his role in this incident. Dwayne entered into an agreement whereby the misdemeanor charges will be dismissed in 12 months when he completes domestic violence moral recognition therapy.
“Dwayne has already enrolled in and begun therapy. Dwayne has not been convicted of any crime. He entered into this agreement because it is in the best interest of his family. Dwayne deeply regrets any embarrassment this incident has caused his family, the Seahawks and the NFL.”
The NFL has not officially said why Eskridge has been suspended, but it's now safe to assume that the incident in February is the reason why. Other player suspension announcements Friday included Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Charles Omenihu and New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara, who will also miss time due to separate off-the-field legal issues.
Eskridge, a second-round pick by Seattle out of Western Michigan in 2021, has totaled 17 catches for 122 yards and one touchdown in 20 career games. He's also added six carries for 69 yards.
