Seahawks WATCH: Ken Walker Powers in For Opening TD vs. Lions
The Seattle Seahawks entered Sunday's meeting with the Detroit Lions at Ford Field looking to make a statement after an embarrassing loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1.
And after receiving the opening kickoff, the Seahawks quickly showed that they brought a different version of themselves to Detroit.
Seattle put together a long 12-play, 75-yard drive that soaked up nearly eight minutes of the first quarter. Second-year running back Kenneth Walker III finished things off right at the goal line with a walk-in one-yard touchdown to put Seattle in front, 7-0.
On the play before getting into the end zone, Walker attempted to fly over the offensive line and got sent into a front flip as a result. Safe to say he kept it simple the second time around.
Take a look:
Seattle got set up at the goal line after an impressive 16-yard catch from DK Metcalf on 3rd and 8. Lions standout cornerback C.J. Gardner-Johnson then committed an unnecessary roughness penalty before exiting with an injury on the next play.
Walker opened up prior to the season about the growth he's experienced since his successful rookie campaign last year.
“I’m comfortable with everything now. I feel good," Walker remarked. "It’s a big difference between year one and year two. I know they said that a lot, but I didn’t believe it. I’m real comfortable now. I don’t have to think as much and it’s coming easier to me now.”
The Seahawks will look to keep things rolling on against the Lions.
