Seahawks WR DK Metcalf Continues Racing Rivalry with Dolphins Tyreek Hill

Who is the fastest player in the NFL? Seattle Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf wants to settle the debate, and has his eyes on Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins.
In this story:

Who is the fastest player in the NFL?

The first name that comes to mind for many people is Miami Dolphins star receiver Tyreek Hill. But hat take is coming under fire by Seattle Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf, who would rather give himself that title.

The debate has been going on for two years, as both players have stated that they'd like to race each other. But as Metcalf recently revealed to Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe, efforts to organize a race have not been successful.

“Look, I had my people contact his people, we still couldn’t come to an agreement," Metcalf said. "We’ve been trying to do this for two years now. We haven’t come to an agreement in two years but you’ve seen me running in a track meet, I didn’t race against no 30-year-olds but whenever you wanna get this done, let me know.”

He did add that Hill wanted to do a race back in July, but Metcalf turned it down, citing how close the timing was to the start of the regular season. It was a business decision from Metcalf and one that the Seahawks certainly would've agreed with, as they wouldn't want their star to take any unnecessary injury risk.

Yet, a good old-fashioned race between these two stars would entertain fans and settle the debate.

Based on the data that the NFL has provided, we know that Metcalf once reached a top speed of 22.64 miles per hour in his infamous chase-down tackle of Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker. The fastest time that Hill has put out was 22.60 back in 2019 when he was facing the Minnesota Vikings, according to Next Gen Stats

So according to those data points, Metcalf may be faster than Hill, which is something Seahawks fans should keep in mind if a race is ever held between the two players.
