Seattle Seahawks Hosting Draft Visit With Sack-Happy Florida State Pass Rusher
The Seattle Seahawks have multiple routes they could go in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but adding to coach Mike Macdonald's pass rush on defense is never a bad idea at No. 16 overall.
The team appears to showing interest in doing just that, as the Seahawks are set to meet with Florida State Seminoles EDGE Jared Verse, per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
"Florida State edge Jared Verse is visiting the Seahawks tonight and tomorrow, sources say," Garafolo tweeted. "The projected mid-first round pick has visited the Buccaneers and will visit the Broncos as well."
In his two seasons for Florida State, Verse has been a beacon of consistently high production. A combined 29.5 tackles for loss and 18 sacks in just 25 games is an impressive number for a guy who redshirted as a tight end at Albany in 2019 before switching positions.
Verse would go on to earn back-to-back First-Team All-ACC selections in 2022 and '23, and now projects as a first-round pick. One recent mock drat from NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah had Verse going at No. 11 overall.
After securing a long-term deal with Leonard Williams and having Boye Mafe headed into Year 3, the Seahawks could have an even scarier pass rush by adding Verse. Fans won't have to wait long to see where Verse lands, as the draft begins on Thursday, April 25 in Detroit.
