Seahawks BREAKING: Dre'Mont Jones Signing with Seattle - Full Details
The Seattle Seahawks are wasting no time adding some much-needed talent to their defensive line with free agency officially set to begin on Wednesday.
Seattle is reportedly signing former Denver Broncos defensive tackle Dre'Mont Jones to a multi-year deal, per reports Monday evening from NFL Network.
The three-year, $51.53 million deal will come with $23.5 million guaranteed in year one and $35.02 million over two years, per the report.
“I feel like they have the biggest belief in me," Jones said, per CBS Sports NFL insider Josina Anderson. "They have a really promising team, and I am looking forward to transitioning to that city."
Jones reacted to the news of his signing on Twitter:
"I'm a mf Hawk Let's Go!!" he tweeted.
Jones, a third-round pick by the Broncos in 2019, has stayed steadily consistent through his first four years in the league after bursting onto the scene with the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2018.
Jones has had at least 5.5 sacks in each of his last three seasons, and he's done a little bit of everything in the meantime. In 56 career games, Jones has recorded 133 total tackles, 22 sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception, six passes defended and has even blocked two kicks.
The Seahawks defense had the eighth-most sacks this past season (45), a number that doesn't necessarily show any desperate need of major improvement in the pass-rushing area. However, it remains a key area that general manager John Schneider has said will addressed, whether it be through the draft or free agency.
And with the signing of Jones, it seems as if Schneider is one step closer to fulfilling his promise,
