Former Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas continues to be involved in legal trouble relating to his ex-wife, another chapter in a series of events since Thomas last played in the NFL in 2020.

Per the New York Post and first reported by Nola.com, Thomas is the victim in an identity theft scheme that was started by Kevin J. Thompson, the boyfriend of Thomas' ex-wife, Nina Thomas.

Thompson allegedly stole up to $1.9 million from Thomas after using the former All-Pro's identity to cash NFL checks and steal money from his bank account among other things.

Per Nola.com, Thompson is facing charges of “including identity theft, forgery, money laundering, credit card fraud, computer fraud and bank fraud. His bond is reportedly set at $730,000.

This isn't the first time that something dramatic with the law has happened between Thomas and his ex-wife, who filed for divorce in 2020. In May of that year, Nina was arrested after reportedly holding Earl at gunpoint after finding he and his brother in bed with other women.

Thomas was then arrested in May 2022 after he sent threatening messages to a different woman regarding her and her children. Just a few months later in Aug. 2022, Thomas' house in Orange, Texas burned down after a lightning strike.

Thomas, the No. 14 overall pick by the Seahawks in the 2010 draft, played nine seasons in Seattle and one with the Baltimore Ravens in 2019. He's a seven-time Pro Bowler, a three-time All-Pro, a member of the Hall of Fame All-2010s Team, and a one-time Super Bowl champ.

Thomas remains a free agent after being released by Baltimore in Aug. 2020.

Despite playing most recently with the Ravens, Thomas found most of his success with the Seahawks. He was one of the faces of the historical "Legion of Boom" Seattle defense that helped win the franchise's first-ever Super Bowl in the 2013 season.

In his NFL career, Thomas has played 140 games while tallying 713 total tackles, two sacks, 11 forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, 30 interceptions, and two touchdowns.
