Seattle Seahawks Entering 'Bright Time' Ahead of Tilt vs. Cleveland Browns
The Seattle Seahawks will face perhaps their biggest offensive test of the season when they face Myles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns on Sunday at Lumen Field.
With Seattle (4-2) and Cleveland (4-2) both getting off to solid starts this season, Sunday's game looms as one that will tell a lot about where the Seahawks' offense is after being up-and-down lately.
But for head coach Pete Carroll, he and his team are ready to roll and prove that they're past any previous mistakes.
“Here we go," Carroll said. "We’ve got a big matchup coming up. Excited about it because these guys are so good; they’ve got some stuff that they’re working through as well. What a great matchup for us and it’s the kind of matchup that you’ve got to have if you’re going to do anything with the season, you have to play teams that are like this. We’ll look forward to seeing the Browns come and see if we can get ready for another big day at Lumen (Field), so we’re looking forward to all of that.”
With the San Francisco 49ers hitting the skids somewhat and looking likely to be without Brock Purdy against the Cincinnati Bengals due to concussion protocols, Seattle has a good chance to heap the pressure on its division rivals.
The Seahawks, who had their fair share of injury issues to begin the season, are starting to get on the right side of the injury list.
For Carroll, the team is getting some key players back, which is a big positive.
“It’s a little bit of a bright time for us," Carroll said. "A number of guys are coming back to practice, and we’ve been kind of waiting and hoping that we were going to get a little bit of a lift, and we may, we may feel that. It felt like it just going through the walkthrough just to see some guys that have been on the sidelines for a while. It’ll be exciting to see them go to practice and see if they can make it through and have a chance to help us here soon. That’s a real positive for us right now.”
With offensive linemen Abraham Lucas and Phil Haynes not practicing but receiver DK Metcalf and rookie running back Kenny McIntosh going through some work, the Seahawks have had mixed news on the injury front - but it's largely positive.
The Seahawks are getting healthy, and with the Ravens, Rams, and 49ers on the upcoming schedule, they'll need all hands on deck.
First, though, the Seahawks must navigate a seriously tricky assignment in the Browns on Sunday, and if they can manage a win, it will no doubt be a "big day" in Seattle.
