Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith Playing vs. San Francisco 49ers After Injury? 'We'll See'

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith is unsure if he will be fit to play against the San Francisco 49ers after suffering an injury in the 17-16 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

The last thing the Seattle Seahawks wanted on a short week was an injury to a key player, and quarterback Geno Smith's status is now up in the air for the team's clash against the San Francisco 49ers on Thanksgiving.

Head coach Pete Carroll stated that Smith suffered a tricep injury just above the elbow and had no structural damage. Smith would miss two series in the fourth quarter and return for the game's final drive, in which he led the Seahawks into potential game-winning field goal range.

Unfortunately, Jason Myers missed his 55-yard attempt, and the Seahawks dropped to 6-4 on the season. Smith talked about pushing through to go back in when clearly he wasn't 100 percent.

“I really just had to try to do my best to fight through the pain," Smith said. "That was the main thing is it's pain tolerance and just trying my best to just fight through it and keep going. It's just how I am. I'm always going to try to finish the game if I can.”

And with the 49ers up in a few days, what does Smith think his chances are?

“We'll see how it goes.”

The Seahawks now enter a brutal four-game stretch that sees them face the 49ers (twice), the Dallas Cowboys, and the Philadelphia Eagles as their playoff credentials will get a serious test.

All eyes will no doubt be on Smith over the next few days as Seattle's chances to get something from those games without him will be harder, not impossible, but harder.

For now, it's rest and rehab for Smith as he is now fighting the clock in a bid to be fit to play against the 49ers on Thursday.
