Seattle Seahawks Getting Eaten Alive By San Francisco 49ers, Trail at Halftime on Thanksgiving

The Seattle Seahawks once again found themselves at the mercy of the San Francisco 49ers in Thursday's Thanksgiving matchup.

The Seattle Seahawks hosted the San Francisco 49ers at Lumen Field on Thursday with a chance to make a major NFC statement in front of national Thanksgiving audience.

Instead, the Seahawks (6-4) put together an embarrassing effort and were man-handled by the 49ers in the first half before heading into halftime down 24-3.

Prior to their final drive of the half, the Seahawks had just 15 offensive yards. Seattle finished the half with 56 total yards while Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith went just 6 of 11 passing for 55 yards and an interception.

Seattle's leading receiver was DK Metcalf with three catches for 32 yards while rookie Zach Charbonnet - who was making his first-career start in the absence of the injured Kenneth Walker III - had just three carries for seven yards.

The 49ers were led by Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey, who combined to scored San Francisco's three first-half touchdowns.

The Seahawks defense showed little resistance on defense while the offense unfortunately followed suit. After the Niners took a 14-3 lead to start the second quarter, San Francisco had 12 first downs while Seattle had none.

The only spark Seattle got was on a 66-yard kickoff return from Dee Eskridge, who set the Seahawks up for a 51-yard field goal on a quick first possession.

Eskridge also picked up the Seahawks' first first down of the game on a 10-yard run. But one play later, Smith tossed an interception to 49ers cornerback Ambry Thomas on a contested throw to Tyler Lockett

This turnover led to a potentially early kill-shot drive for the Niners. Purdy made two big third-down throws as San Francisco easily made its way down the field before McCaffrey powered into end zone for his second touchdown of the half. The Niners built their lead to 21-3 with 5:11 left in the first half, though one could argue the deficit felt even larger than that.

It only got worse for the Seahawks after DeeJay Dallas muffed a punt that gave the Niners the ball back. Seattle held strong defensively to minimize the damage, but the 49ers were able to add a field goal to extend the lead to 24-3 with 39 seconds left in the half.
