Seahawks Hire Former Bills Coach Leslie Frazier; What's His Role?
During just his third day on the job, Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald has made his first major hire at the helm.
Per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Seahawks are hiring former Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier as an assistant head coach. A defensive-minded Macdonald now adds a veteran that's coached with seven different NFL teams.
"The Seahawks are hiring Leslie Frazier as their assistant head coach, per sources," Pelissero tweeted. "The onetime Vikings head coach, Frazier has long been a mentor to Macdonald. Now he joins Macdonald’s staff in Seattle."
Frazier, 64, got his NFL start as an assistant with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1999. He coached with the Indianapolis Colts and Cincinnati Bengals before being named the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings in 2011. He was hired as Buffalo's defensive coordinator in 2017, but was surprisingly let go last offseason by Bills coach Sean McDermott, who took over the defensive play-calling.
