BREAKING: Seahawks Hire Ryan Grubb as New Offensive Coordinator
The Seattle Seahawks and head coach Mike Macdonald have found their man at offensive coordinator, and they hardly had to step out of the building to get him.
Seattle is hiring former Washington Huskies offensive Ryan Grubb to fill the same role, per reports Friday night from ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Grubb was set to follow Kalen DeBoer from Washington to Alabama, but is now leaving the collegiate ranks altogether.
“Seahawks are hiring former Washington offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb, who recently accepted the same position at Alabama, per me and @PeteThamel,” Schefter tweeted. “Seahawks have filled their OC hole.”
The Seahawks moved on from offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, who was recently hired by the Chicago Bears for the same role. Grubb now takes over an offense that features talented receivers in DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba along with dynamic running backs Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet.

At Washington under DeBoer, Grubb helped lead an elite offense that featured Heisman runner-up Michael Penix Jr. at quarterback and a trio of NFL-caliber receivers. The Huskies made it to the National Championship this season but fell to Michigan and recently-hired Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh.
