Seattle Seahawks Jamal Adams Could Be Disciplined by NFL
Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams could be receiving a punishment from the NFL for his actions on the sideline during Monday night's 24-3 win over the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the NFL is "considering discipline" for Adams, who exited in the first quarter after just nine plays to be evaluated for a concussion after taking an unintentional knee to the head from Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. While being evaluated on the sideline, cameras caught Adams yelling in the face of the unaffiliated neuotrauma consultant or "red hat," who is likely the one that deemed Adams unfit to re-enter the game due to concussion concerns.
"NFL is considering discipline against Seahawks’ Jamal Adams for his actions toward the independent concussion doctor appointed by the NFL and NFLPA following his concussion sideline evaluation in Monday night’s game," Schefter tweeted on Wednesday.
Adams, who was playing in his first game since Week 1 of last season, was making plays all over the field just nine snaps into his return. He nearly sacked Jones one play before making a hard hit against receiver Paris Campbell for a stop on another.
He finished with two solo tackles.
Adams tore his quad in Week 1 of last season and was out for the remainder of the year. Considering the emotional toll he admitted he went through during recovery, it's likely the heat of the moment got to him. Regardless, the NFL could soon be handing out a punishment.
Luckily for Adams, a concussion won't keep him out for long. He'll be able to rest through Seattle's Week 5 bye before the team visits the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 6.
