Seattle Seahawks' Jamal Adams Under Fire After Insulting Reporter's Wife on Social Media
Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams hasn't had the easiest of times since arriving to the Pacific Northwest via trade from the New York Jets in 2020.
He's battled injuries, which included being sidelined for all but one game last season. Back this year and having already played in eight games, Adams and the Seahawks sit at 6-6 after Thursday night's 41-35 gut-punch loss to the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium.
Adams finished with 10 total tackles, but was criticized for allowing the go-ahead 12-yard touchdown to Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson that gave Dallas a 38-35 lead, in the eyes of some showing little effort to disrupt the pass while doing so. It was certainly a frustrating night for the Seahawks who have now lost three straight.
However, Adams let this frustration go too far on Friday by taking a direct shot at the wife of New York Jets SNY reporter Connor Hughes on X. Hughes, who covers Adams' former team, replied to a video of Adams allowing the touchdown with "Yikes."
Adams then took this bit of performance criticism to heart, and sarcastically quoted Hughes' "yikes" over a zoomed-in picture of the reporter's wife - the height of an unprofessional and immature response to some light criticism.
Adams has since deleted the post, but regardless of any incoming apology, Adams was in the wrong and could continue to find himself under fire for the time being, including from Seahawks fans.
This season, Adams has posted 44 total tackles and two passes defended. He and the Seahawks will look to keep their season alive amid a brutal stretch of games when they visit the San Francisco 49ers in Week 14 on Sunday, Dec. 10.
