Seahawks BREAKING: DT Jarran Reed Signing with Seattle for 2nd Stint

After spending his first five NFL seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, defensive tackle Jarran Reed is returning to the Pacific Northwest.

The Seattle Seahawks are bringing back a familiar face to their defensive line.

Per reports Tuesday from NFL Network, the team is finalizing a two-year deal with one one of their former defensive tackles in Jarran Reed, who played with the Green Bay Packers this past season after also spending one year with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2021.

The two-year deal is worth a max of $10.8 million, per the report.

Reed, a second-round pick by Seattle out of Alabama in the 2016 draft, seemed like he was headed toward a long career with the Seahawks after playing a consistent role on the team during his first five years in the NFL.

However, he was released by the Seahawks at the start of the new league year in 2021 in a cap-clearing effort before signing with the Chiefs just two days later. But if the Seahawks, who just agreed to terms with former Denver Broncos defensive tackle Dre'Mont Jones on Monday, can get the same production from Reed that they grew familiar with, the d-line could look scary next season.

Reed started 63 of 72 games with the Seahawks during his first stint, totaling 22 sacks, 194 tackles, six passes defended and three forced fumbles. He had a 10.5-sack season in 2018.

If he can reach that kind of level once again, his deal will look like a bargain for Seattle.
