Seahawks' Ken Walker Got Most 1st-Place Votes Despite Loss in Offensive Rookie of Year Race

Based on the voting, Seattle Seahawks rookie running back Kenneth Walker III appeared the most deserving to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
In this story:

Seattle Seahawks rookie running back Kenneth Walker III fell short of winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year at the NFL Honors on Thursday, as New York Jets receiver Garrett Wilson took home the award.

But a look at the final voting results understandably raises some eyebrows.

Walker received the most first-place votes (19) despite coming up short of the prestigious honor. Wilson finished with 18 first-place votes, as it was his 19 second-place votes that ultimately put the Jets pass-catcher over the top.

Here's a look at the voting results down to the number:

Walker III was joined by San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy and Wilson as the two other finalists.

Even though he didn't begin the season as the starter, Walker III lived up to his collegiate hype and finished 12th in rushing yards (1,050), 11th in carries (228) and tied for 10th in rushing touchdowns (nine). He was a key reason for Seattle's success during a Cinderella-like season.

Now the future of the Seahawks' backfield, Walker III will look to carry this momentum into next season despite the loss in the award race.
