Seahawks' New Year's Resolution: Get Bigger, Stronger?

CBS Sports suggests that the Seattle Seahawks should look to beef up as the new year approaches.

As 2023 is coming to a close and everyone is getting ready to turn their calendars to 2024, New Year's resolutions are the hot thing once again, love them or hate them.

While said resolutions are often set on an individual basis, CBS Sports decided to apply the concept to NFL teams. For the Seattle Seahawks, CBS Sports says the goal for the new year should be to get more physical, a resolution many can relate to.

"In other words, keep the ball in the hands of the imposing play-makers (i.e. Kenneth Walker III, D.K. Metcalf), who are built to take over the January stage,"  Beyond a potential playoff push, however, they also should be doing their due diligence at the most important spots: QB and head coach."

D.K. Metcalf

As CBS Sports notes, Metcalf and Walker alone already give the Seahawks a pair of physical skill-position playmakers. While other big bodies, like 6-7 tight end Colby Parkinson, who caught the game-winning touchdown last week, could be included in that statement, this advice essentially comes down to keep leaning on your best players in the playoffs.

The most interesting part of that excerpt comes at the end. After winning Comeback Player of the Year last season, quarterback Geno Smith has taken a noticeable step back this season, and dealt with injuries along the way.

Meanwhile, coach Pete Carroll's job appears to be safe, but with him being the oldest coach in the league at 72, the Seahawks may have to keep an eye out for a new coach sooner rather than later.

While the Seahawks still have one more game before the calendar turns, a home match against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, 2024 is shaping up to be an interesting year for the club.
