Seahawks in 'Best QB Situation' with Geno Smith? NFC West Rankings

The Seattle Seahawks have made several moves this offseason, but have doubled down on Geno Smith as the team's quarterback. Where does that leave Seattle's quarterback room as far as rankings in the division go?
In this story:

The Seattle Seahawks surprised everyone last season in the post-Russell Wilson era as Geno Smith took charge and led the team to an unlikely postseason appearance.

The NFC West is in somewhat of a flux, as the Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals are a state of unknown. This could leave the Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers, who will likely battle it out for the division title.

But which team has the best quarterback situation right now?

Fox Sports ranked the quarterback situations in the division and has listed the Seahawks as having the best in the NFC West.

"Seattle rewarded Smith with a three-year, $75 million contract, providing some stability at the position moving forward," Williams writes. "The Seahawks closely evaluated the quarterbacks in the draft but once again passed on taking a player at the most important position on the field. The Seahawks have selected just two quarterbacks in the draft during general manager John Schneider and head coach Pete Carroll's tenure.

"Instead, Seattle will lean on Drew Lock as the team's backup. The 26-year-old Missouri product is 8-13 as a starter and competed with Smith for the starting job last season. Lock signed a one-year, $4 million contract this offseason to stay in Seattle."

It is hard to argue since Smith is coming off a Pro Bowl year and finally looks settled at the level. The 49ers are in No Man's Land with Brock Purdy and Trey Lance, Arizona is without Kyler Murray for the first half of the season, and Matthew Stafford, with his neck issues, is an unknown commodity for the Rams right now.

For many, it is the Seahawks and 49ers for the division, with Seattle having the best quarterback situation. Does that give them a leg up? Possibly, but we did see what coach Kyle Shanahan managed with Purdy last season, so it's not a formality by any stretch.

This offseason has the makings of a suprb one for the Seahawks, as they hit on their draft picks in Devon Witherspoon, Jaxon Smith-Njgiba, and Zach Charbonnet and added veterans on defense in Bobby Wagner and Devin Bush.

For now, everything is coming up for the Seahawks ... including having the best quarterback situation in the division.
