Seahawks Meet With Heisman Winner LSU QB Jayden Daniels at NFL Combine
The Seattle Seahawks were a mainstay in headlines last offseason when they made the rounds to visit with a slew of star quarterbacks in the 2023 draft class, highlighted by multiple group selfies that included Pete Carroll, John Schneider and the QB prospect they were visiting at the time.
There's two Heisman Trophy winners at QB in this year's draft class. Though it's unlikely the Seahawks will select either one, they're still making sure to do their due diligence.
Per reports from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Seahawks with 2023 Heisman winner and former LSU Tigers quarterback Jayden Daniels, who visited other teams like the Chicago Bears, New England Patriots and Las Vegas Raiders among others.
Barring a trade, the Seahawks will be picking at No. 16 overall in April, which is a bit too far below where Daniels has been projected to land in various mock drafts. The dynamic dual-threat is expected to go in at least the top 10, with a recent mock from ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. having him off the board at No. 2 overall to the Washington Commanders.
Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said he "can't answer that right now" when asked recently in an interview about the future of quarterbacks Geno Smith and Drew Lock beyond next season. This uncertainty could open up the possibility for the Seahawks to draft a QB, but that guy being Daniels or someone like USC Heisman winner Caleb Williams is a major long shot.

However, with such a talented class of signal-callers, the Seahawks, if they wanted, could look to move a few spots up and hope that Daniels slides down the board. Of course, this all depends on what Seattle's intentions are in the first round, and trading up for QB doesn't seem like it's priority No. 1.
