Pete Carroll Excited For What's Next After Seahawks: 'I'm Fricken Jacked!'

Now-former Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll is excited for the next chapter in his life.
In this story:

The Seattle Seahawks will have a new head coach for the first time in 14 years as Pete Carroll. After conversations with Seahawks ownership, the two sides decided to move in a different direction.

In a somewhat surprising move, Carroll will not be the head coach, despite stating that he fought for the chance to continue to be. He will remain with the organization in an advisory role.

After coming to the Seahawks in 2010, Carroll established himself as one of the better coaches in the NFL. Now that his time as a head coach has likely come to an end (137-89-1 and a Super Bowl ring in 2013), we wonder what's next for the 72-year-old.

One thing we know for sure is that he has no intentions of slowing down.

"I’m frickin jacked, I’m fired up, I'm not tired, I'm not worn down," Carroll said. "It’s the end of the season, I’m supposed to go lay on a cot somewhere, I ain’t feeling like that. What's coming? I don’t know, I've got no idea and I really don’t care right now. But I'm excited about it.”

With Carroll still having the "juice" as he called it, he felt the need to remind everyone of his love of the organization. A couple of days ago, he had every intention of remaining as head coach.

“Since our last game, I’ve had a couple of chances to talk, and share my feelings about our team, about the organization, representing the 12s, and my intentions of staying with the Hawks man, and that was true to the bone,” Carroll said. “I wanted to make that clear as things have shifted so quickly. It’s been an honor and a thrill to be part of this program and I’ve loved every minute of it.”

With a position now vacant, work will begin to find Carroll's successor. Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator and former Seahawks assistant Dan Quinn appear to be the favorite to return to the NFC West.

Carroll says he is "jacked" for what's next, and with a changing of the guard in Seattle, we get the sense that fans are "jacked," too.
